Keeping Your Data as Tidy as Your Lawn

This policy sets out how we collect, use, and protect your information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

 

1. What Information We Rake In

We only collect the information we actually need to get the job done. This usually includes:

• Contact Details: Your name, phone number, and email address.

• Property Details: Your address (so we know where to mow) and notes about your property (e.g., "watch out for the hidden stump").

• Billing Information: Invoicing details and payment history.

• Correspondence: Any emails, text messages, or notes from our chats.
  
   

2. How We Collect It

We gather this information when you:

• Request a quote via our website, phone, or email.

• Engage us for a job (mowing, hedging, spraying, etc.).

• Sign up for a newsletter or promotion (if we ever decide to send you gardening tips).
  
   

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to ensure our service grows on you, not to annoy you. We use it to:

• Provide Services: Schedule jobs, visit your property, and get the work done.

• Communicate: Send quotes, invoices, and confirm appointments. "Give us a bell" works both ways!

• Improve: Figure out what we are doing right and how we can be even better.

• Comply: Meet our legal and safety obligations (like Health & Safety or tax laws).
  
   

4. Sharing Your Information (We Don't Gossip)

We are a lawn mowing business, not a tabloid. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to data brokers or for advertising.

We may, however, share your information with trusted service providers who help us run the business, such as:

• Accounting Software: (e.g., Xero) to handle the bills.

• Payment Processors: To securely handle your payments.

• Contractors and Subcontractors to get work done.

We do trade lawns. Sometimes, the grass grows faster than we can get to it, or it makes more sense for a contractor already in your area to take over the job. In the interest of efficiency and ensuring your property gets the attention it needs, we may sell or trade your mowing contract (and the necessary contact details) to another reputable company or contractor. 

 

5. Security: Turf Protection

We take reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is safe from loss, unauthorized activity, or misuse. We store digital records securely.

 

6. Cookies

(Not the Chocolate Chip Kind)

If you visit our website, we may use "cookies." These are small text files that help us understand how people use our site. They don't snoop on your private life; they just tell us which pages are popular. You can turn these off in your browser settings if you prefer.

 

7. Access and Correction

Under the Privacy Act, you have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.

If you want to check what info we have, or if you’ve moved house/changed your number, just let us know.

We might update this policy from time to time. If we do, we will update the link on our website. We recommend you check back occasionally—just like checking the lawn for weeds.
